July Already?

I don't know about anyone else, but when I was a kid summer was a season that seemed to be endless. I loved the long days, trips to the pool, freedom from school, and hanging out with friends. Now that I am a mother and am watching my own children revel in the season, it seems to be going by at warp speed. Usually I feel like there are hardly enough hours in the day for all the fun to be had. June was lovely, bring on July!

Cause We're Just Talented Like That

We spent the entire morning and early afternoon outside today. The girls swam, rode their bikes and scooters, and just ran around the yard. Meanwhile I was busy picking weeds and clearing the sidewalks with our handy dandy leaf vac/blower. While we were out there Chiggie made the following observation:

Chiggie: Hey Mom check out the neighbors yard. They only know how to grow green grass.

Me: What do you mean?

Chiggie: Look we grow ours green and yellow.

That we do, that we do.

35 weeks

All downhill from here. Just for my own memory I thought I would post a little bit about how I am feeling at this point

  • My hip and pelvic joints are killing me
  • I am tired really really tired
  • My hands, ankles, feet, and face are mildly swollen
  • I alternate freely between happy, sad, irritable, organized, and out of control
  • I have fairly regular braxton hicks contractions
  • I am getting more and more anxious about the birth
  • I worry about the girls and how they will handle my absence regardless of its brevity
  • I worry about Midge and her transition to "big sister"
  • I worry about me and my ability to keep up with 3 young girls and a newborn

I am sure there is a lot more but I am too tired to really think right now. Everything is going to change so much, so soon.

Someone's Gotta Do It

Today is one of those days that I really don't like. Both of the older girls have follow-up appointments for their ruptured ear drums. We have to go grocery shopping. The porch needs cleaned. I prefer the more lackadaisal, outside swimming, riding bikes, maybe some ice cream, kind of days. Maybe tomorrow.

And then Sometimes I am Just Weird

We have a very casual relationship with our neighbors. Occasionally we are outside at the same time and we'll wave or nod. I've never actually been in their house nor have they been in ours. At least since we moved in almost 3 years ago. Our houses are really close together. In fact our bedroom window looks into their living room window and our dining room windows match up as well. We often sit down to dinner at the same time and our lights go out at relatively the same time every night as well.

Well they did. That is until J left for Paris. She didn't actually tell us she was going to Paris. She told the neighbor across the street, who told his next door neighbor, who told our neighbor on the other side, who told the King. Her husband is still home but it's not the same. Her flower garden is neglected, her car sits undriven, and the lights are never on. He must eat his dinner in the living room because we never see him in the dining room anymore.

She's been gone since the end of May. I don't know when she's coming back or if she's perhaps gone for the summer. I wonder if she'll be gone when the baby is born. She has seen us bring home Tea and Midge. For the life of him the King does not understand why this affects me at all. What can I say I hate change.

Back to Normal

If you can even call it that I guess. It feels weird for the King to be back at work after a week of just hanging out. Unfortunately all the relaxing we did took its toll and most of today will be spent cleaning and recovering. We didn't win powerball, and I was so sure that it was our time. The good news is no one did and there will be another drawing on Wednesday. Oh yeah, we will be playing.

We had an incredible time at Cutty's. I have pretty high standards for resorts and such and this place exceeded all of my expectations. There were so many things for the kids to do it was unreal. The only regret I have is that we couldn't stay longer. We are considering becoming members (they are open year-round) so that we could go as often as we like.

I really need to take a moment to map out the rest of the summer. We have been pretty organized up to this point, but haven't really planned much further. I definitely want to go camping at least once more. This will probably take place after the baby comes due to time constraints. T-ball goes through July 17th and that is keeping us pretty busy for now.

Speaking of the baby coming, wow. We have quite a bit to do. I have all the baby clothes washed I just need to sort them and hang those that need it. We have to have a new carseat but other than that we are pretty much set as far as the big stuff goes. I feel really good surprisingly (usually at this point I am a wreck.) We'll see how the next few weeks go. Ahhh well I am off to begin the undesirable chores that lie ahead of me. Hope everyone is doing well.

Feeling Lucky

Keep your fingers crossed. We bought 4 powerball tickets and Mama needs a new pair of shoes.

I wanna win the Lottery

I am loving this. I would give anything to have the King home all the time. Of course we would have to run our own business or something as unfortunately we don't happen to be independently wealthy. *sigh* I guess I should just be glad that he gets a decent amount of vacation time this year. As of right now we're just chillin' out a bit waiting for the baseball game tonight. We spent the afternoon at the pool and I must say I love the exhausted look in the kids eyes.

Tomorrow we are leaving to go camping. Don't worry though, we won't be roughing it this time. The place we are going has an indoor and outdoor pool, sauna, hot tub, put put golf course, playground, and a lot of other amenities that we plan to take advantage of. There is also a creek for fishing and lots of places to hike. It'll be nice to get away and this may be the last chance we get before the baby comes.

Tea is on day 3 of her antibiotic and she is back to acting like herself. I obviously did not have bronchitis as I am feeling better. Still coughing, but sleeping and definitely better than I was. Hopefully we got everything out of our system and this trip will be more successfull than the last. I'm just loving all this time we're getting to spend together and I'm trying to just enjoy it!

Zoo Fun

What are the odds?

Tea's eardrum ruptured less than a month after Chiggie's did. No one seemed a bit concerned at the doctors office as they prescribed the antibiotic she now needs to prevent further infection. They wouldn't give her an antibiotic for the original infection though. I find this a little odd. Just as with Chiggie though, once the rupture occurred she felt much better. We stuck with our original plan and spent the day at the Zoo. I'll be back tonight after baseball practice with some pictures.

Or we could....

Get really sick and require antibiotics. Tea has an ear infection. Most likely that is. Doc's on call wouldn't see her today so really we're just waiting it out. I on the other hand am 99.9% sure that my "allergies" have turned in to bronchitis. I am unable to stop coughing, cannot sleep at all, and my head and chest are killing me. Midge has a cold, but I think she'll run the course on her own. As for the King and Chiggie they are well as of this second, but odds are betting they'll get theirs soon enough.

On a lighter note the King did get to go golfing as a Father's Day gift and he had a really good time. Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads out there and I hope everyone had a great day!

Vacation all I ever Wanted....

As of Monday the King is on vacation for a week. We have a busy week planned and I am excited to be able to spend this time together as our family of five before the baby comes. Our week goes a little like this:

Monday: The Zoo and T-ball practice
Tuesday: The library and T-ball game
Wednesday: The pool and my little sisters baseball game
Thursday: Leave to go camping
Friday: Camping
Saturday: Return from camping
Sunday: Relax

Now if we could just get ourselves a wood panelled station wagon we'd be set.....

Fish

Midge is really loving the water now that she finally gave it a try. By the end of the day she is just worn out!

Really?

When I woke up today and looked at the calendar I actually had to look twice. Is today really June 14th? Time is flying at an incredible rate. I have never had the end of a pregnancy go by this fast. I have been down the last couple of days with terrible allergies. It's good to finally be able to breathe through my nose again. We've been spending most of our evenings either out in the yard or at the ballpark and the weather has been cooperating. Tomorrow we are off to the pool and then Saturday starts the King's vacation. I had really better start getting some baby things ready. She'll be here before we even know it..........

6

Chiggie,

I cannot even begin to tell you how much my life has changed in the last 6 years. Time has flown by so quickly and yet I have so many memories even in just a short period of time. I'll never forget the first time I held you. You had the biggest eyes. As a baby you earned the nickname chigger bug very early on as you refused to be anywhere but latched on to me. We later shortened the name to "Chiggie" and it just stuck. You will always be my little "Chiggie."

As the years passed, not much changed. You still love to cuddle and we both enjoy spending time together. You love movies, books, pizza, fashion, and swimming. You were my sweet little baby, but I love that you are getting older. I love that you and I can laugh during the day at things only we think are funny. I love your thrill with practical joking and your ability to have a comedic effect on just about anyone.

In the fall you will start Kindergarten and I will have to share you with the world. That's okay though, because I am sure they will love you just as much as I do. Happy Birthday! I love you now and forever!

What's that noise?

Oh yeah, nothing. Absolute silence. Chiggie and Tea are having a sleepover at my Mom's house tonight. The King and I went out for dinner, picked up Midge, and then went and finished up our birthday shopping for Chiggie's party tomorrow. Midge went to bed as soon as we got home and from there on out has been complete quiet. I love the peace and quiet, but it is definitely lonely without their giggling and refusing to go to sleep.

What a Day

Waking up several times in the night to go to the bathroom = no fun

Being kept awake by hurricane force winds = frustrating

Getting up an hour early for an appointment= total bummer

Going grocery shopping with 2 tired and fussy toddlers = a nightmare

Loading a cart full of groceries into the back of the SUV = exhausting

Sneaking the box of brownies from their sack and gorging them while crouched behind the SUV, all the while zoning out the screaming coming from inside = sweet relief

Happy Birthday G'pa We love you!

Ouch

I haven't slept very well for the last couple of nights due to spasms and cramps in my legs. I have tried drinking more water, milk, and all the other "homeopathic" remedies to no avail. This has left me tired again and my legs are sore all day long. Ahhh well it's all down hill from here.

Soaking it up

We have really been enjoying ourselves lately. BBQ'ing, going for walks, swimming weather permitting, and going to baseball games. Today was our first trip to the local library and the girls signed up for the summer reading program. We will go every Tuesday until school starts. The girls do a craft project and check out several books a piece. It's really nice because we live within walking distance so we get more use out of Midge's wagon. The weather was great today so we also walked to Chiggie's game. The flowers in this neighborhood are incredible. Have I mentioned that I love this time of year?

Over

The weekend is basically over already. It was a short one anyway with all the activities we had scheduled coupled with the fact that the King had to work on Saturday. My plans today were dashed by rain. I had hoped to spend the afternoon with my new pink floatie soaking up the sun. Oh well, this week doesn't look too bad so far.

It's strange, but with everything we have going on, I sometimes forget that I am even pregnant. There for a while I was feeling pretty tired and my feet were hurting a lot at night but that seems to have passed for now. I have some extra energy maybe intended for nesting but I don't really want to waste it on cleaning. I am sure I will live to regret that. I don't usually even notice the baby moving until around 10 pm. Probably because at this point the house is quiet and I actually have time to notice. While I am excited to meet her and hold her and all the great stuff that comes with a brand new baby I am trying to fit in a lot before August 2nd. I hope not to go early. We'll see what I am saying in about 6 weeks.

Opening Day

First off, the answer to yesterday's trivia is shockingly d. Yes d. It was lovely

Today was our Church's Vacation Bible School. Chiggie was there from 9-1:30 and then had her first t-ball game. It went great. She hit the ball 3 times and fielded it a couple of times as well. Afterwards the team had a BBQ at the park and the girls had a blast. Now I think we are all ready for bed.
I'd also like to take this opportunity to wish Grandma Dixie a Happy Birthday. She is either turning 21 or 50 I can't remember.

Swimming

We actually ended up going to the pool. So here's a little trivia for you all. How did our trip go?

Did

a) one of the girls get unnecessarily "rescued" by a lifeguard
b) one of the girls leave a "present" on the deck of the baby pool requiring scrub brushes and bleach
c) the temperatures hover in the low 60's insuring we will all end up with pneumonia
d) all of the above

Tune in tomorrow for the results!

June

It's June right? Not March or April. Someone needs to let the weather know. We were supposed to go to the pool today, but probably not going to happen if we can't get temperatures to come on up out of the 60's. *sigh*
