In the Mean Time....

The whole family has been sick.....AGAIN. This has been a ridiculous spring that way. Buster is fighting his 4th double ear infection in 2 months. He's not the only one with ear pain though. Midge and Boo are feeling his pain. Tea was sick for a brief period, but never required any antibiotics. Chiggie has finally been diagnosed with a sinus infection and hopefully she will be on the mend soon. I don't think that poor kid can take much more. Chiggie, Buster, and Midge are all also battling the dreaded pink eye. Ewww. Luckily we caught that soon and they're feeling and looking better. Of course this all happened after spring break. Which I guess depending on how you look at it, is a very good thing! We had a FANTASTIC spring break. It was so nice to sleep in, make our own plans, and just be together during the day. We even went to the Royal Gorge for the morning one day. The girls liked looking at all of the animals after crossing the bridge. That, they didn't like nearly as much.

We rode down to the bottom of the gorge to see the river. It sure is a long way down.
I took this picture from the bottom. If you are afraid of heights this place is not for you!

Buster even went on his first carousel ride. I was kind of surprised he wasn't afraid, but he loved it.

We also went to the park, the library, swimming, to a concert, had a sleepover, a birthday dinner, and other little activities at home. It was a great "staycation." I really can't wait for summer!

Tides they are a Changin'

Blogging used to be easy. My kids were all so little when I first started. There was always something blog worthy going on. Whether it was Tea dropping a phone in the toilet, Chiggie starting a new activity, or one of the babies doing something just adorable, it was great writing fodder. It's not nearly as easy anymore. Sure, several of my kids are still very young but the issues are different. I have much less time. The little time that I do have is torn between so many different things and blogging rarely makes it to the top. I have no intentions of stopping, I love having all of these stories down. They are precious to me and I know that someday they will be precious to my kids.

Some of the most prominent things going on in our life right now just aren't ready to be blogged about. Things are changing. Changes that I never saw coming. Changes that while I tried to avoid, will make our lives better in the long run. When I had Chiggie one of the first things my Mom said to me was, " never say something you or your children will never do, before you know it you or they will be doing it." She was right.

I Just Forgot

I honestly forgot to blog this week. Nothing has really been going on, just living life. I've never forgotten before though. Poor Buster is still sick. Not anything terrible just a nasty cold that will not give up and yet another double ear infection. I took him in today just sure he had bronchitis to hear that his lungs are just fine but surprise his ears are infected again. I am learning that much like a car cannot be weaned off of gas, a person needs sleep. The less I get, the more I need to feel better. I know you can't ever catch up, but I would sure like to try.

The weeks fly by with the King gone and we look very forward to the weekends. They're busy but relaxing all at the same time. It's so nice just to have an extra set of hands around. We are all getting some major spring fever and spring break is coming up very soon. No real plans yet. I need to get on that.....

What a Weekend

This weekend, after all of her hard work, Chiggie performed in the play Peter Pan. She played a pirate narrator named Patchy. It was great! She got to be on stage in a pirate ship for the entire production and had lines in every scene. Sunday afternoon, after the last performance, we gave her these flowers.

My little sisters were also in the production. They played the roles of the lost boys twins. Very cute!

On Saturday night I worked back stage. It can hardly be called working it was so easy. The kids were very quiet and well behaved. I liked watching them get their makeup on.

I am so proud of all of them. It was a wonderful and hilarious play. I am constantly amazed at the talent these young kids have. We are very lucky to live somewhere with a such a quality program for the youth!

Double Trouble (Ear Update)

I called first thing this morning to talk to the pediatrician's office about Boo. They really thought it would be best if I brought her in to have the ear looked at. I asked Boo if her ear was still hurting. She nodded that yes it was but pointed to the other ear. Now I was thoroughly confused and thought maybe I had forgotten which ear she poked. Once we got to the office she told the nurse and the doctor that both ears actually hurt. Upon examination it was determined that her eardrum was still intact. I was so relieved. The doctor could see where she had scratched the membrane and that is where the blood came from. It turns out her other ear was indeed infected. Go figure. Poor thing, both of her ears really did hurt. I felt bad, but relieved that I had brought her in. She has now had two doses of her antibiotic and I think she will be a much happier girl tomorrow!

Monkey See Monkey Do

I clean my ears with q-tips. I know I shouldn't. It's bad for them. I do it anyway though. I have never, ever, not even once, used a q-tip on one of the kids ears. I clean them with a warm washcloth and that is it. Boo didn't think that was good enough. She decided to try it my way. Unfortunately she was bumped and it went in too far. She SCREAMED out it pain immediately. I looked in the ear and didn't see anything. She complained about it for a while and then fell asleep. Tonight I noticed dried blood in the ear canal. Poor girl. I guess tomorrow I will call the doctor and see what they think I should do. I don't even know if there is anything that can be done at this point. She says it still hurts and I feel awful for her. I am, of course, putting them out of reach from now on. Poor Boo.

Dress Rehearsal

I can't believe the Peter Pan performance is this weekend. Its gone by so fast. As always Chiggie has had a terrific time. It hasn't been nearly as time consuming as Willy Wonka so that's been nice. I can't wait to watch the play on Friday night!
