Painting Field Trip

We have been blessed to participate in several field trips so far this year and today was another. We spent the afternoon at Studio Vino, learning painting techniques and also painting a fall themed picture. The kids LOVED it. Buster shocked me with his ability to not only stay still, but also paint an awesome picture! This is definitely something we will do again.

Creepy Walk Part 1

This afternoon we took the kids to the Creepy Walk in the Woods (for kids). It was fairy tale themed and the kids had a good time.

Field Trip

Today was our much anticipated school field trip to the Butterfly Pavilion! We were up bright and early and even Buster commented on the fact that it was still dark. We arrived early and enjoyed the nature trail in the cool morning.
Once inside, it was straight to the insect room. We did a year long unit on insects and I was pleasantly surprised at how much everyone remembered. It was amazing to see these huge spiders!
Another big hit was the giant hermit crabs and the starfish. Everyone but Buster enjoyed petting one.
The three middle girls all took a turn holding Rosie the Tarantula. I decided to give it a try too. She was soft an fuzzy, but still super creepy.

It was such a fun day and a great start to the weekend!

My Shadows!

I am never lonely on Wednesdays. I always have these two with me wherever I go!

Fun Stuff

Today was "fake injury" day at LEAP school.  The kids planned for a couple of weeks what their injuries would be, and decided on a mix between broken arms, black eyes, and a knee injury. They had fun thinking things up, and I was relieved these injuries were all fake!

Beautiful Fall!

It's likely that summer will always be my first love, but the older I get the closer I grow to Fall.  Last year was unsettling with the flood, several moves, crazy high winds, and freezing cold temperatures, leaving me feeling like I missed out on something. This year is more than making up for it! The older girls and I went for a little walk this afternoon and here is just a bit of what we saw:

Fall!

Fall has definitely arrived here in Northern Colorado! We woke up yesterday to a yard covered in a blanket of leaves. The crazy part is none of them are from our trees. We raked them all up and I am sure there will be more this weekend.

Future Star

Buster is all about football right now. It really bothered him on Sunday that he does not have an "away" jersey. He made due with his orange one. Then there was complaining that looking like a real player is nearly impossible without pads and a helmet....I think I know what Santa might be bringing!

Sleep Tight

It's easy to sleep at night just knowing that we have this little ninja looking after the house. Have I mentioned how much I love this little boy??!!

Pumpkin Patch

We had a really fun weekend, after a very long and busy week! On Friday, Tea and Midge went to a sleepover at the house of some new friends who just happen to be sisters too! They had a lot of fun and we plan to have them over soon! On Saturday, we went and had brunch at The Egg and I. We had never been there before and we liked it a lot.
After brunch, we hit the local pumpkin patch. I took the opportunity to take pictures of the kids at such a beautiful location. This farm is just gorgeous!

Everyone picked out pumpkins and I got some Indian corn for decoration. It was a very nice family weekend!
