Delegating

I've always been a bit of a, ahem, control freak if you will. It's usually just easier for me to do something myself because then I know for sure it's done how I want it to be. This really isn't working all the time anymore. There's just too much to be done. Too many people live here for me not to delegate certain tasks. The girls love helping, usually, so it's working out pretty well. When the baby comes I'm sure I'll be glad I got them involved.

Monday Night

Just a quick update. I forgot to mention this morning what a good night Boo had last night. Almost no coughing at all. We continued with the nebs today and she did really well. I don't know that we'll have to do one at all tomorrow until maybe right before bed. So, phew, I think we dodged that bullet. I can't wait for spring when we can put this "sick" season behind us.

I also did manage to have a very productive day. I got Chiggie's room and the upstairs bathroom completely cleaned. Her closet and drawers are organized and I also de-cluttered quite a bit in there. I started the little girls room but had to stop at bed time so that they could get some sleep. I'll finish up there tomorrow, clean my closet on Wednesday, and then relax towards the end of the week. I love progress and I'm so glad I'm getting some energy at this point. To reward myself, and motivate I suppose, I made myself an appointment at the salon this Saturday to get my hair cut in a new style. I know I need something different and I'm excited!

Monday In Bullet Points

  • We're on snow delay
  • We slept in
  • I'm about 1hr behind schedule
  • I was up half the night with a sore tooth
  • I can't get said sore tooth taken care of until after the birth
  • Tylenol stinks
  • Despite all of this I am determined to have a good/productive day
  • The plan is to be completely baby ready by Sunday night
  • I'm really not liking the snow, where was it in December?
  • I am so ready for Spring
  • I'm pretty sure I am purposely trying to think of things just so that I don't have to get up
  • I better get up
  • Wish me luck

Randomness

I really think every weekend goes by a little faster than the one before. The King worked again this weekend, but was off half-day on Saturday for the party and by 3:30 on Sunday, so not too terrible. Tea discovered this RC Motorcycle in a pile of forgotten about toys and hasn't put it down since. She played a game today where several of her small toy dolls/animals went and took their drivers tests. Some passed some didn't. One was in an accident and ejected from the vehicle. She later told me he was 100 and too old to be driving anyway.

Midge has been coughing for too long now. I finally gave in and made her take a treatment today. It only took one and she sounds much better. Hopefully she's on the mend now.

Boo on the other hand is back to round the clock nebs until the wheezing stops alltogether. Her nights are just miserable. I feel so bad for her and the only thing that really helps is just getting up. Not fun at this stage of my pregnancy at all. She'll sleep on my lap sitting up, but I get so uncomfortable so fast. She's doing better tonight though, so maybe we're through the worst of it.

The Party

The Birthday Girl just as we arrived at the gym.
The spread. She requested pink cupcakes w/ pink frosting. So easy to please!

Tea set the bar high by doing flips into the foam pit.

Camie relaxes after taking a dive.

Chiggie had to give it try too.
These two are the dynamic duo. They play so well together it's a dream.

Marlee gears up for a sprint into the foam pit.

Look at the air Boo got!

Swimming in sea of foam.

And then of course we sang and ate.
And opened presents!

And now folks, she is officially 4!

4 Years

Midge's Birth day
1st Birthday

2nd Birthday

3rd Birthday

Happy 4th birthday to Midge. It's gone by so fast, of course, but I can't remember much about life before her. She is a true blessing to our family. Just for fun here are some random Midge facts:
  • Easy, easy, easy baby and toddler. She literally potty trained in one day.

  • Looooves Burger King, correctly pronounced as Boooger Kang
  • Loves to dance and usually does so w/o much inhibition

  • Looks up to her big sisters. If they memorize a verse for church she follows suit.

  • Her favorite color is blue

  • All girl. Absolutely can walk in heels with no problems. She did not inherit this from me. Or the King (I don't think)

  • Must do everything on her own terms. She doesn't care much for people who are too overbearing. She loves to swim, ride a bike, etc. it just has to be on her terms.

  • Extremely wise for her age. She's very calm and trustworthy.

We love her so much and are looking forward to so many more birthdays! I'll post 4th birthday pictures after the party Saturday!

A Surprise

Last night was simply awful. I had a feeling it would be from the time I got into bed. I was right. It was literally one thing after another. Midge has a cough. No fever, no other symptoms, just one of those coughs that keeps you up at night. I gave her some cough syrup and I think it had an anti-drowsy effect on her. They all had a hard time falling asleep. Chiggie was anxious about going back to school after the break. Tea was just up and into everything and Boo just followed their lead. Between Boo and Midge I was up almost every hour. The icing on the cake was when a guy the King has been taking to work called at 5am to say he wasn't going to need a ride. I about gave birth I jumped out of bed so quick to get to the phone. Calls that early scare me to death! I thought for sure someone was in some kind of trouble.

This morning instead of dwelling on the night I decided to make the best of the day. I got Chiggie off to school and then came home and got the girls ready. Then we surprised her by showing up for lunch. It was pizza day so the girls were thrilled. She was so happy to see us and it made me feel better to see that she was having a great day. It was warm enough, still chilly though, that we stayed for recess and the girls burned off energy on the playground. Now tonight the big girls are at youth group and we're just hanging out with the little ones. Midge starts going next week and she is so excited. I hope tonight goes better for all of us.

Sleepy Girl

I love this baby. And yes she is a baby and don't anyone dare to tell me different! :)

Camp Out

One of the selling points of the new couch we got is that it's a sleeper sofa. This is great because the girls love to sleep in the family room and watch movies once in a while on special occasions. We decided to let them break 'er in tonight. Who knows how it will go, but at least they should be more comfortable. Chiggie has the next two days off for winter break so that should be nice. I plan to finish cleaning the little girls room. It got pretty messy when I tossed everything from the new baby's room in there :) It will be so nice just to have a break from the normal busy-ness~!

Happy Valentine's Day

I hope your day is filled with much love!

Friday

Last night we went out to eat for my Step-Dad's birthday party. We went to a local pizza place that has lots of games for the kids so a great time was had by all. Here Tea is, waiting for her pizza.

The King and Chiggie trying to decide what to order. Is anyone else amazed at how old this child is getting?????

Earlier Midge tried out our new recliner. She approves.

To Tea, relaxing is a sport.

The King said this was almost 32 years overdue. He's a little dramatic if you ask me :)

What a Day

The best laid plans right? I was at church until after 2 yesterday so today really was supposed to be my "stay home and get stuff done" day. The weather even cooperated with a snowstorm. Who wants to drag little kids out in that? Not me. Unfortunately life had other plans for us. To start the day off, there was a 2 hr delay. Normally I like the leisurely morning, but this one was different. Tea had a rough night. She complained of a headache and ear pain. She rarely complains so I knew something was up. By morning her eyes were completely sealed shut. We all know what this means. I was shocked actually. Where in the heck did she get pink eye???

I had to call the doc and they were able to fit us in just after Chiggie had to be at school. This was very convenient. With the weather, I wanted to be out as little as possible anyway. After the appointment we had to go drop of prescriptions. She has an ear infection, a wheeze, and pink eye. Poor girl. Of course the pharmacy was backed up and we were told to come back in an hour. Thank goodness for drive thru's. We went home and I made them a quick lunch and we went back and picked up the meds. She hates the eye drops and that's an understatement. This is the kid who doesn't even flinch at shots. I hate that the other girls have to watch her get them and scream because we all know their next.

Now, there in bed and I'm trying to relax by the fire. I did get all the baby's clothes put into his dresser and the quilt hung today. Actually the King hung the quilt and I did the clothes. I love to sit in his room now. It looks so good. This weekend we are hanging his name on the wall, yes he does indeed have a name. If one of my kids has spilled the beans please don't post it on here, I love surpising people at the birth!

Thursday

Wow, this week has gone by so incredibly fast. Tuesday was the district science fair and Chiggie took 2nd place. Yesterday I helped out with the girls youth group. Then today I went to a luncheon at my little sisters school and then one of my little sisters had a band/choir concert tonight. I have really barely sat down at all. On top of the extras we've also tried really hard to maintain things around the house. Emphasis on the word tried, sigh.

Monday we filed our taxes and getting our return has helped as well. We've been able to catch up and also get to go look at some new couches this weekend. Trust me they're needed. If I fall through the ones we have one more time....

Midge's b-day party is scheduled and she wants a hearts/valentine theme. I'm so excited for her to turn 4. I love the age and she's such a treat anyway. I also have a baby shower coming up through the church that I am really excited about. It seems February is going by just as fast as January and December and November.....

February

Yay for February! I hate to admit it but January is absolutely my least favorite month of the year. For a multitude of reasons actually. Now we can just put that month behind us and move forward. Plus I can now officially say I am due next month. That's a good feeling. This month is already filling up fast. We have the district science fair, a concert, school luncheon, Valentine's Day, several Dr's appointments, and of course Midge and several other family members have birthdays. Busy stuff, but fun stuff too.

Midge wants to have her party at the gymnastics studio, but I'm having trouble getting a hold of them. I really don't want to have to go down there. No one is ever really available to talk because they're leading classes. I'll get it figured out I'm sure. For now I'm off to battle through the Monday madness that is my house!
