Nice and Simple Weekend

We had such a nice weekend. I can't say it was particularly relaxing, but I feel like we got a lot done and it wasn't all that stressful. On Saturday the King had to work so the kids and I just stayed home and cleaned. He ended up getting off early and made a store run for me and brought home an umbrella for the patio set. The kids really like to eat outside and now they don't have to bake in the sun. We watched a movie and stayed up late that night. Morning came too soon but we all woke up cheerful and got ready for church. The sermon was great and Chiggie got to spend some time with a friend. In the afternoon Chiggie and Joe went to the gym while I worked on a couple of papers that were due. When they got home we fertilized the lawn, garden, and fed the flowers. We had a delicious dinner of BBQ hamburgers and enjoyed cooling off on the deck. The King only works a few days this week and this is off for several days to celebrate the 4th. We have a lot of plans and I  really looking forward to it!

Working Hard

Buster loves to help out with any chores, but working outside is his favorite . He mow every time we mow! He also loves to work in the Garden and help pull weeds. I hope this energy and interest is still going when he is a teenager.

Expectations

As summer approaches, I had a whole list of things I really wanted us to accomplish. Looking back on that list now, I have to laugh! I am not sure where I thought we would find the time. However I can say that we are learning new things, enjoying time to relax, and getting more exercise than we have in years . I am learning to let go of expectations when necessary and to just enjoy the little moments!

ER Visit

Just when you think things are slowing down they often speed up. Boo and the girls were playing softball in the backyard tonight, when she was hit by a swinging bat. In the face. Even though we were pretty sure she there was not a lot that could be done we decided to take her to urgent care. Which was of course closed. So instead we headed to the ER and spent the next 4 hours and 5 minutes waiting. To clarify, the 4 hours was waiting and the 5 minutes was the amount of time spent on the actual exam. She does not have a concussion(whew) just a cut lip and damage to several teeth which are thankfully baby teeth anyway. Her lip is also cut pretty deep, but no stitches because of the location. She is sleeping now and the baseball bat is in an undisclosed location!

What a View!

This is the view I enjoyed during softball practice! It was even nicer than usual as it had just rained and was nice and cool!

These Moments!

The kids and I went out for lunch today. It was cloudy and humid and I woke up grouchy. After cleaning up from breakfast, I decided it was going to be a good day! When I look at these faces, I am reminded of just how much I have to be thankful for every single day!

Excitement!

After nearly a year of dealing with my frustrating, water in the lens, camera problem I broke down and ordered a new one!  I am super excited about it and cannot wait to start try it out.  I wish I could have found it in the store so that I would not have to wait but the kit was only sold online and it was the best deal, so I will suck it up and wait.

Pool Days

With a perfectly blue sky the outdoor pool was our choice today. Midge went off the diving board for the first time and so did Boo. They all also enjoyed the slide!

Fun in the Sun

Well, I guess it really is not that sunny, but we are still having fun. We got up early this morning and after cleaning and yard work, we packed a picnic for the lake. We walked over and ate on the lawn before swimming. It's our day off from sports and other activities so we are just on our own time!

First Game

The girls had their first game tonight. I am so very proud of how well they did. They hit off the pitching machine and it is fast pitch. Since they have never played before it seems really fast! They both got several great hits and Tea made a great play at second base! They are having fun too which is really what matters!

VBS

The girls loved VBS once again this year. Chiggie worked as a crew assistant and Tea enjoyed her last year as a student. Tonight we are going to a picnic to celebrate and kick off the summer!

Softball

The girls are loving softball. It helps that they got a great coach who seems to really love coaching and softball. Next week will be their first game !

Strange Things

This cat had perched on the top of this power line, which just so happens to be in our backyard, for two whole days. It even weathered a full day of rain. Finally a lineman came out to rescue it. We all watched in the yard as he tried to grab the cat who in turn panicked and hit the live wire, shocking both it and the man! The cat fell, but I am pretty sure a tree eased the fall. We are not sure how injured the cat was or is because it ran off. The kids had a hard time going to sleep after such an ordeal!

Park Picnic

After VBS we had a picnic at the cannon park. I wish I could press pause and enjoy these summer days forever!

Learning

Poor Midge had a rough night at softball practice yesterday. She was hit in the face with the ball and her tooth went through her lip. Amazingly she had practice again tonight and went right back out on the field and had a super practice. I am so proud of her for not giving up!

This is all going way too fast! We now have a teenager in the house! A teenager, who on her own chose to spend her birthday helping out with VBS. We love you Chiggie!

Happy June!

Today was a another beautiful day! It was a day that I knew would be busy, but we decided to throw in one more thing and walk to the beach for a bit this morning. We packed a quick lunch and left shortly after we ate.

This afternoon was the summer reading program kickoff at the library, so we hit that up too. They're doing a badge quest program this year and it looks pretty fun .

Later, Tea and Midge had their first softball practice. They had fun and now tomorrow they have batting practice. It feels good to be busy and having fun!
