All Chalked Up

Both Midge and Boo are doing gymnastics right now.  They are amazingly good, especially considering they are newbies.  Last week Boo came walking out all covered in chalk after a spin on the uneven bars.  I had to laugh.  She was the only one who was completely covered in chalk!

The First Day of Homeschool

Obviously I am still playing catch up, but I just can't imagine leaving this day out.  We started school on August 24th this year.  I don't think I have ever felt quite this loaded down right at the beginning of a school year, but things have calmed a little and I am starting to feel my bearings.  I love spending my days with these beautiful faces!

Fun with Friends

What a beautiful day it was today.  We have been looking forward to meeting up with some of our Canon City friends for several weeks now.  At first I wasn't sure what we would do, but as the date finally approached the fantastic forecast screamed "park day!"  The weather really could not have been any nicer.  Completely sunny skies and mid 80's.  We packed a cooler full of lunch fixings and snacks and headed out around 10.

I was really surprised that the water feature was still turned on!  I expected it would have been shut off around Labor Day, but with this incredible extended summer we have been having I guess they decided a little bit longer would be nice.  It ended up being a really nice way for the kids to cool off every once in awhile.
This park has some really fun equipment.  We have only been one other time, so it still felt new to everybody.  This pulley style swing was a hit and entertained them all for quite some time.
I don't think there has ever been better friends than these two.  They have been besties since before Kindergarten.  I am so happy that they did not allow the distance between them now to push them apart.

This is another really cool park toy.  I love that it fits so many of the kids at once.  Tea loved loading the kids on and giving them a good ride!  It was a fun day that  am sure we will remember for a very long time.  It was also nice to soak up so much sun before it really does start to get cooler.

Buster's 1st Day of LEAP Kindergarten

I am thrilled that Buster is getting to homeschool and attend LEAP for Kindergarten.  I was very nervous, and so was he when it finally came time for his first day.  Luckily for us, his teacher is a member of our church, and he already knows her which I think made a lot of difference.  When we picked him up, he was in a great mood, and could not stop talking about what a great day he had.  It is such a relief, and I can't wait to hear about all of the fun things he does this year!

Fun at Mema's

While Chiggie and I were at school, and of course the King at work, the little kids got to have fun at Mema's with all of the little animals on her mini-farm.  I was so jealous dropping them off, I almost didn't have the gumption to leave at all.  It did help knowing that the kids were having such a great time!

Seeking the Master

For me the decision to keep going in school was not an easy one.  Truthfully, I feel plenty busy at home, and I don't especially love loading myself down with extra book work.  However, that was always the plan eventually.  I began to realize that the longer I put it off, the harder it would get to start back up again.  So, after a semester off, I decided there was no time like the present.  The most difficult aspect so far has been the residency requirement.  I have to be on campus for a week at a time every couple of semesters.  This was a bit of a nightmare logistically for a myriad of reasons, but mostly because the first one was Chiggie's first week of school.  Talk about feeling conflicted.  I was home for the first day though, and everything from then on out went smoothly.  We all had great weeks, and I am far more relaxed about the future school wise.  I will spend the next two semesters in class, and then begin my practicum this summer.  I am taking things a day at a time.  I have participated in community counseling sessions and am enjoying myself so far..  I didn't realize how nervous I would be, but it gets a little easier each time!

September

Wow! Once again, it's been too long.  I really don't like trying to play catch up, but I also don't like missing out on documenting certain things either.  So, we'll see how this goes.  August was an insane month for our entire family.  Some of it had to do with the fact that I started back up with school.  Some of it had to do with the fact that Chiggie started High School.  The rest, I am not really sure, but it was just one big jumbled up blur really.  Chiggie's first week of school, and ever since have gone wonderful.  I am so happy that she is adjusting well both socially and academically.  We are confident that we made the right decision, but do miss having her home.  Here is her on her very first day, all grown up!
