What???

First I have to say, I had my first OB appointment today and got to see the baby and the heartbeat! You can read more about it here.

What is up with the weather? It has rained hard every afternoon for the past 4 days and are highs have been in the '70's. Tomorrow is supposed to be 66 and rainy all day. In July I think that's really weird. We're having family come visit tomorrow and we're hoping to spend some time at the park so cross your fingers the sun peeks out at least for a bit!

Fun Pool Pics

I'm feeling tired tonight after spending all day at the pool. So I will leave you with these fun pics and the promise of a more detailed post when I have a bit more energy.

Happy Birthday Tea!

Last night after the zoo we celebrated with cake and then presents for both Tea and Boo.
I really loved the cake that Tea picked. The center piece even lights up. Very cool!
Tea blew out her candles and made a wish.
Boo dove right in.

Tea was thrilled to finally get her Cupcake Maker.

She loved her gorilla. Especially after spending the day at the zoo.

Boo loved all of her presents as well.

Today she tried out the Cupcake Maker and it was a success.

I love that the girls can share things when Birthdays come around.

The Zoo

Looking up at the Otter swimming above.
Looking down at the otter and fiish swimming below.

Now that's a lot of girls.

The view of the Broadmoor from the highest point at the Zoo.

Boo loved all the kid size exhibits.

Even though she looks a little scared in this picture, but it was actually her favorite part of the day.

No trip to the zoo is complete without copious amounts of cotton candy.

Ooooh, a close encounter.

My Mom was attacked by a bear. Wait a second, I think that bear might be fake.

Tea posing. She'll be a whole hand tomorrow.

Sisters/Friends

Giddyup Zebra.

They looked at every exhibit.

We actually fed this giraffe. I think Giraffe's are pretty cool. Not quite as cool as hippos, but cool none the less.

Happy Birthday Boo

Two. It's amazing really. We had her birthday dinner tonight at McDonald's and she was all over the place. Definitely the bravest two year old we've had so far. She has a lot of examples though I suppose. Happy Birthday Boo you rock!

Just Another Day

Today was unseasonably cool. The high was like 70 and by 5 it was closer to 65. Kind of weird for July. I decided to pack up our lunch of PB&J's and have a picnic at the park. I was feeling extra tired and it gave me an excuse to just chill on the grass while the girls played. They played for longer than usual too just because it wasn't so darn hot. Of course I took some pictures but they'll have to wait.

I can't believe in two days Boo will be 2 years old. She is talking in full sentences. She's shy so strangers don't hear a whole lot. She is a very easy child. Very sweet and compliant. Occasionally she'll put up a fuss but only if she's just really tired. She loves the girls and gets along very well with Midge especially. She also has an attachment to my Mom. Aside from the King and I she is the only person Boo will stay with and no cry. We're going to the Zoo on Saturday to celebrate both Boo and Tea's special days.

5 Things

5 Things I Can't Live Without

  1. Clean floors (dirty floors are gross, gross, gross)
  2. Pop. The cracking open of a can, the burn, such sweet joy.
  3. Music. I always work to some kind of music.
  4. Pictures. I love to take them and look at them. I love to freeze time.
  5. Flip-flops. My feet were made for them.

5 Things I Could Live Without

  1. A mortgage
  2. Coffee. I just don't drink it.
  3. Wind. I don't mind a breeze, but I really don't like the wind.
  4. T.V. Really , I could.
  5. Gossip

I got this from Elizabeth's blog. What would be on your lists?

Sunny Saturday

Today was the first Saturday that didn't include numerous thunder storms and showers all summer long. We took it easy this morning and then packed up and headed to the pool right after lunch. The King got to watch the girls perform. Chiggie on the diving board and the girls with their new found swimming skills. It was the perfect temperature. 90 with an occasional breeze. Very warm, but we weren't melting.

This evening we went for another bike ride and Tea did awesome. It's so cool to watch her. She's so proud of herself. Tonight the girls were exhausted. Not the good kind of exhaustion where they go right to sleep, but the kind where they catch that second wind. It took them forever to fall asleep. I think a combination of the sun and all the exercise just finally got to them. Tomorrow they can rest while I do housework. Where's the justice in that?

Ridin'

For the longest time Tea has been riding her bike on one training wheel. It finally bugged her bad enough tonight that she begged to just have them both taken off. The second they were off she rode with no problem. Seriously, she never even fell down. She has mastered turning, breaking, and even potholes. We're going to practice a bit more tomorrow just to make sure she's ready for the open road, but I'm so excited for her.

Reading

It's no new news that I love to read. This summer has been awesome in that way. I've had time to read several major novels. For some reason nestling down with a good book under the air conditioner in the summer is just perfect. Chiggie is a major reader now too. So far this summer she has read over 30 books including Charlotte's Web and Island of the Blue Dolphins. I love to see her engrossed in a book. It brings back my own childhood memories I suppose. Today we went to the library and stocked up for the week. I'm glad that my love of reading has been passed on to our girls.

Expanding

I went back and forth over whether or not to journal my pregnancy through a seperate blog. Finally I decided to keep up another blog just for the duration of the pregnancy. That way I won't feel like the old blog is dominated by pregnancy stuff. I'll still post all the big events on this blog just not the little stuff. If you want feel free to come visit me at the new place!

Thinking

I like to be busy. Not pulling your hair out busy. Just busy enough to keep my mind from wandering. Thinking too much about tomorrow, the next day, and the next. I'm very blessed to have stability in my life. No matter what happens the King and I have a strong marriage. The girls are healthy and happy. There are still hardships though. Layoffs at the King's current job are coming up. Already. Some new jobs have been posted, but nothing even remotely close to here. I guess the reality that he will end up gone for awhile again is looming in the back of my mind. We've had a great summer and he'll be around for the rest so that I am very thankful for. After that though, who knows. Until he's licensed we're at the mercy of the company he works for. Industrial work just pays better. A lot better. We've made it this far, we can do it.

Quiet

Our house seemed so quiet today. Our company left this weekend so there's two fewer little girls running around. The visit went great. The weather perked up and we fit in several outdoor activies and also consumed way too much ice cream. I'm so glad that they decided to come (it was a last minute invitation.) I loved having extra people around. If you know me at all than you know that I love a full house. Hence our choice to have several kids. Maybe this will become an annual tradition. I would like that and I'm sure the girls would agree.

I made the best of the quiet and cleaned up the house today. We spent so much time outside over the past several days that it wasn't bad at all. I got caught up on laundry and changed the sheets. The girls have colds and just took it easy for the day. Tonight we're having homemade pizza for dinner and everybody around here loves that.

It was very stormy here today. Lots of lightning and loud thunder. For the first time in a long time the girls actually got scared. I let them get out all of the blankets and make forts in the family room. This distracted them from the storm. Not sure what we'll do the rest of the week. I'd like to go to the pool for sure, but the weather doesn't look very promising. We'll just have to see I guess.

Slowing Down

Wow, the last two weeks have flown by. We haven't had a moment to spare really. This morning ended a wonderful visit from my sister in law and nieces. We had a great time but the kids were just exhausted. All that staying up late to party catches up with you even when you're under 10 I guess. After staying up late last night Chiggie and Tea had to get up early to get ready for our Church's all day VBS. Luckily they were cooperative and had a really good time.

I think our busiest part of summer is over. Tea and Boo's birthday's are coming up but I'm not stressed about that at all. Just excited. We plan to spend the next few weeks hitting the pool and parks. Just relaxing and enjoying the freedom of the season. Mostly I'm looking forward to the sleeping in for a bit longer!

Just Noticed

The pictures I chose of Tea from the pool yesterday didn't make it on my last post somehow. So she gets a post all to herself. I must say she has become quite the swimmer this summer. She isn't hesitant around the water at all. She can comfortably swim the length of the little pool while underwater. She prefers to be in the big pool, but will occasionally humor Boo and Midge by staying with them for a bit. I am so proud of her!

Better Luck

My sister in law and nieces followed us home to spend some time on this side of the mountain. Today we hit the pool and had much better luck than Monday at the lake. It was 100 degrees and hardly any clouds. Perfect summer weather. If you like that sort of thing, which you all know I do.

Colorado

This morning was absolutely gorgeous. We all decided a trip to the lake would be a great idea to keep everybody cool. We kept cool alright. By afternoon (about 15 minutes after arriving) we were cooled off so to speak by the hail. We had to remain under the pavilion for 2 hours. The north marina even reported golf ball sized hail. Oh well the kids had fun and living in Colorado you come to expect such weather phenomenons.
