Happy Birthday, Midge!

Midge turned 10 this year.  Double digits.  10 years old.  Unbelievable.  She made the incredibly mature decision to delay her birthday party so that she could have it the gym where she takes gymnastics.  We did have a home party on her actual birthday, and she got some great gifts!

Fire and Ice Festival 2016

This year was Loveland's 2nd annual Fire and Ice Festival, and since we had so much fun last year we were excited to go again.

They added quite a bit this year.  We all enjoyed watching the performers.  There was music, dancing, and ice sculpting.
I particularly enjoyed the decorations.  I love the colors and all the lights.  It was very festive, and the weather was fairly warm too.

I think everyone would agree that the fireworks were the best part.  The show was comparable to the 4th of July.  Something about fireworks in the winter is just special!

Superbowl Sunday!

What an exciting season the Broncos had.  The excitement in the Dauk house on Superbowl Sunday was palpable.  I can't say the actual game was as exciting as we all may have hoped, but in the end we were all just thrilled that they won!  I think the kids will remember that moment forever.  There were fireworks over the lake, and lots of celebrating.  Who knows what will happen next year, I'm just glad the kids got a chance to see their team win a Superbowl!

Snowy Winter

This winter we have had several very large snow storms.  Driving in all the snow is never fun but snowy walks are.  I know I have said it a lot, but I really love living near the lake.  It is just gorgeous all year long.  I find myself appreciating it more and more.

Happy New Year!

Shhhhh, I know it's already April, but I have A LOT of catching up to do.  I'm pretty sure I've never been this far behind in my blogging, but I am bound and determined to keep it going so I will try to fill in as many of the blanks from the last couple of months as possible!  This year for New Year's we wanted to do something different, so we planned a little staycation, went to dinner and stayed the night in a suite.  I am so glad that we did too, because we really had a lot of fun!
Buster was so excited to have his very own bed.  He slept on the pull out couch all by himself.

Everyone loved swimming.  The hotel wasn't very crowded, so we pretty much had the pool and hot tub to ourselves.

We played lots of games that the kids had gotten for Christmas.  LIFE is definitely a favorite now!
These two could not get enough of the elevator.  Every time the King or I needed something they were sure to tag along.
The hotel was decorated beautifully.  We had a great view out our window, and it was nice to enjoy the lights one last time as we moved into the new year.  Everybody slept great, and the next morning we enjoyed a delicious buffet style breakfast.  We might just have to make this a tradition.....
