Kindergarten Graduation

Today was Tea's Kindergarten graduation. This year went by crazy fast. I know I always say that but still, it did. They sang some adorable songs and Tea was very animated. It was so cute to watch.

She has grown so much this year. Both physically and in other areas. She is an excellent reader, doing math way above K level, and just a sweetheart.

She received the award for most caring friend and I wasn't suprised at all. Tea loves everybody. She always has. We are so proud of you sweet Tea!!

Wow

I think maybe our luck is changing. This tree borders our property line. It belongs to us and our neighbor. We've all been trying to have it cut down for years. It's alive, but hollow and dying. We didn't pursue it aggressively enough. Today it cracked and a significant portion of the tree fell to the ground. Right where a car is normally parked and nearby children are playing on the sidewalk.

No children or cars were injured. Wow. It could've been so much worse. The tree has to be cut down very soon. The arbor man is coming tomorrow and we'll set something up then. For now I'm just very thankful.

Hatched

Tea found a fish egg on her playground at school. She was so convinced that it was indeed a fish egg that she brought it home and cared for it as if it were her very own. She put the egg in a sealed container of water. She checked on this egg at very regular intervals. The egg got plenty of sleep, sunlight, etc. She was so diligent in her care that she was rewarded when, while she was at school on Friday, her egg "hatched." She is now the proud owner of a Beta fish named Milo. She kept saying over and over "pinch me, I think I'm dreaming."

I know she'll take good care of her fish. She proved that when she took such good care of the egg!

Diving In

It may be early but we're diving in to summer around here. It has been a long winter and we're definitely ready. Today we took our first pool trip of the season. It felt good to be back. What can I say, summer is my "thing."

Boo didn't act nervous about the water at all. She also didn't seem to mind the fact that the little pool was freezing!

Buster shocked us too. I really thought he would like it, but wow, like is an understatement. He kept trying to run and losing his balance and laughing. He will keep me on my toes this summer, I know that.

Today was Tea's first time jumping off of the diving board and going down the water slide. She is a great swimmer and she loved both!

Poor Midge is caught in the middle somewhere. She wants so badly to be a big kid, but she's still only 5. She finally settled in on the little pool and had a great time!

Kick Off

My brother and his wife and kids are in town this weekend and we decided to kick off summer a little early with a trip to the drive-in to see Kung Fu Panda II. The movie was great and I'm so excited for summer season!

Yellow Belt

Thursday was karate belt testing day for Midge. I can't believe that she has been taking karate for over two months now. She usually goes anywhere from 2-3 times a week and she loves it. She is signed up for karate camp the first week of June and she's pretty excited for that as well. Here she is, her last picture as a white belt. She was pretty nervous, but excited too!

After testing she could hardly wait to get her yellow belt on!

She received her Little Dragon certificate from Sensei Paul. We are very proud of her!

Tea's Kindergarten Zoo Trip

I am going to be playing some major blog catch-up this week, so check back regularly for new posts. I want to cover everything from the last several days before summer vacation starts!
Tuesday the kids and I went along with Tea's kindergarten class on their zoo trip. The weather could've been better but it was a fun trip overall.

Tea and her friend Calleigh wanted to pose on the dolphin. I have a picture of Tea on this same dolphin (probably on the blog somewhere) when she was 2!

Once we got to the zoo, I pretty much handed the camera over. Tea loves to take pictures and I thought it would be nice to have the trip recorded from her perspective. She really liked the monkeys.

Chiggie enjoyed the trip as well. She was a lot of help with the little ones. She loves to help out younger kids, so it was fun for her.

I can't believe Tea's kindergarten year is coming to a close. It has gone by so fast. Tuesday is graduation!
