Kindergarten Graduation

Today was Tea's Kindergarten graduation. This year went by crazy fast. I know I always say that but still, it did. They sang some adorable songs and Tea was very animated. It was so cute to watch.

She has grown so much this year. Both physically and in other areas. She is an excellent reader, doing math way above K level, and just a sweetheart.

She received the award for most caring friend and I wasn't suprised at all. Tea loves everybody. She always has. We are so proud of you sweet Tea!!

Wow

I think maybe our luck is changing. This tree borders our property line. It belongs to us and our neighbor. We've all been trying to have it cut down for years. It's alive, but hollow and dying. We didn't pursue it aggressively enough. Today it cracked and a significant portion of the tree fell to the ground. Right where a car is normally parked and nearby children are playing on the sidewalk.

No children or cars were injured. Wow. It could've been so much worse. The tree has to be cut down very soon. The arbor man is coming tomorrow and we'll set something up then. For now I'm just very thankful.

Hatched

Tea found a fish egg on her playground at school. She was so convinced that it was indeed a fish egg that she brought it home and cared for it as if it were her very own. She put the egg in a sealed container of water. She checked on this egg at very regular intervals. The egg got plenty of sleep, sunlight, etc. She was so diligent in her care that she was rewarded when, while she was at school on Friday, her egg "hatched." She is now the proud owner of a Beta fish named Milo. She kept saying over and over "pinch me, I think I'm dreaming."

I know she'll take good care of her fish. She proved that when she took such good care of the egg!

Diving In

It may be early but we're diving in to summer around here. It has been a long winter and we're definitely ready. Today we took our first pool trip of the season. It felt good to be back. What can I say, summer is my "thing."

Boo didn't act nervous about the water at all. She also didn't seem to mind the fact that the little pool was freezing!

Buster shocked us too. I really thought he would like it, but wow, like is an understatement. He kept trying to run and losing his balance and laughing. He will keep me on my toes this summer, I know that.

Today was Tea's first time jumping off of the diving board and going down the water slide. She is a great swimmer and she loved both!

Poor Midge is caught in the middle somewhere. She wants so badly to be a big kid, but she's still only 5. She finally settled in on the little pool and had a great time!

Kick Off

My brother and his wife and kids are in town this weekend and we decided to kick off summer a little early with a trip to the drive-in to see Kung Fu Panda II. The movie was great and I'm so excited for summer season!

Yellow Belt

Thursday was karate belt testing day for Midge. I can't believe that she has been taking karate for over two months now. She usually goes anywhere from 2-3 times a week and she loves it. She is signed up for karate camp the first week of June and she's pretty excited for that as well. Here she is, her last picture as a white belt. She was pretty nervous, but excited too!

After testing she could hardly wait to get her yellow belt on!

She received her Little Dragon certificate from Sensei Paul. We are very proud of her!

Tea's Kindergarten Zoo Trip

I am going to be playing some major blog catch-up this week, so check back regularly for new posts. I want to cover everything from the last several days before summer vacation starts!
Tuesday the kids and I went along with Tea's kindergarten class on their zoo trip. The weather could've been better but it was a fun trip overall.

Tea and her friend Calleigh wanted to pose on the dolphin. I have a picture of Tea on this same dolphin (probably on the blog somewhere) when she was 2!

Once we got to the zoo, I pretty much handed the camera over. Tea loves to take pictures and I thought it would be nice to have the trip recorded from her perspective. She really liked the monkeys.

Chiggie enjoyed the trip as well. She was a lot of help with the little ones. She loves to help out younger kids, so it was fun for her.

I can't believe Tea's kindergarten year is coming to a close. It has gone by so fast. Tuesday is graduation!

At Which Point I go Insane

This has been the worst spring clean ever. Seriously...ever. I don't know if it's the fact that I have a 1 year old. Or maybe the fact that I am completely by myself with no help, meaning I have to make all of the Goodwill runs etc. myself. Or if it's just plain out of control around here. I am on Day 3 and going strong. I was really hoping to be done by Tuesday because that is Tea's trip to the zoo day and I am going...with all 5 kids. Unlikely that I'll be done though. Speaking of Tea, she has been wearing these frames with the lenses popped out for two days now. She wants glasses so bad she can hardly stand it. What a shame to have perfect vision.

Midge has spent most of her time outside but the poor child seems to be accident prone. She comes in every few minutes with a new bump or scrape.

Buster is not a fan of Spring Cleaning and he has picked no bones about it. Following behind me loudly protesting. My ears hurt.

Chiggie is getting old enough to be a pretty big help. I feel for her though. She can't wait for tomorrow so she can go to rehearsal and escape the madness for awhile.

Boo is none the wiser. She has enjoyed playing with all of the neat things I have pulled out of closets.

Just for good measure, this photo sums up why it is so difficult to get this boy to gain weight. I get this look quite often. It's usually shortly followed by the loud clanking that is his plate...hitting the floor.

Cleaning House

Literally. I am finally getting around to my spring cleaning. I've blogged about it before so I'll spare all of the details, but I like to do all of my spring cleaning at once. It usually takes a few days of working all day long. I'm hoping to be done by the end of the weekend, but my 1 year old helper is making that seem unlikely. I'll be back soon....maybe.

A Rough Go

Seriously health wise we have had a rough couple of years. Thankfully nothing serious, just one annoying virus/infection after the other. On Friday my ears started hurting. By the afternoon they were killing me. I tried getting in to my doctor but of course that was impossible so late in the day. I decided to wait it out and just go to urgent care in the morning. On Saturday I got up early in an effort to be one of the first ones there. I made it just in time and got in quickly. The diagnosis was quick and I started an antibiotic and steroids right away. Now 4 days later and I'm suffering from a painful stomach virus. I just pray to be healthy soon. It's hard to stay positive sometimes.

New Roles

This weekend we got the exciting news that both Chiggie and Tea got a role in the musical. Chiggie will be playing a Shipoopi Teen and Tea will be a towns person. If you've ever seen the movie or the play than you might be familiar with the library scene. Chiggie is very excited to dance! I'm happy for them and excited for this opportunity. We are very lucky to live in a place that has such a quality theater. It's so nice for them to have this experience. I can't imagine being 9 years old and about to be in my 3rd major production and 4th play.

Tonight is the parent meeting and then rehearsals will be Mon-Thurs. Yep, no weekends. Yay. Performances are in August. Everything will be wrapped up before the public school year starts. It should be a lot less stressful than our endeavor last Fall. Should be a great time!

Getting Used to It

My baby is turning into a little boy right before my very eyes.

The Jig is Up

I'm a poser. I thought I could be one of those hip moms, who let their sons hair grow long and wavy. I tried. I really tried. Then this morning I took this picture. My boy, looked like a girl. Gender ambiguous at the very least. Hmmmm, not what I was going for exactly. So I did what any neurotic type A mother would do. I rushed him to the nearest hair stylist for a professional cut.

He was very proud of his smock. At first he was confused and a little scared, but once he figured out that we were not in a doctors office he relaxed.

We watched as the stylist snipped and his precious curls fell to the floor.

Afterwards he admired himself in the mirror than bragged to Daddy about what had just happened. It's official, he's a toddler!

Here We Go Again

Tonight I took Chiggie and Tea to try out for the musical " The Music Man." They are both very excited and will find out tomorrow what part they got. Tea isn't picky. It's her first musical and she just wants to be a part. Chiggie on the other hand has her heart set on a couple of parts. I hope they both end up happy!

More Spring Stuff

Tea will have her last soccer game this Saturday. It's been such a fast season. I was very surprised that the weather cooperated and there were no cancellations or re-schedules. In order to avoid the end of the season chaos her coach decided to have their party the night of their last game. Tea was very proud of her trophy! We have had crazy windy and rainy weather and a nest in one of our trees was badly damaged. These two little fellas didn't make it. The girls were amazed at how perfect these eggs are. They are pretty.

Boy oh Boy

I don't know what we are going to do with sweet little Buster. He will not be having his ear tubes put in on Thursday because he is too sick. He has another double ear infection and his lungs aren't strong enough right now. He is wheezing too much and would have an increased chance of intubation. So, he is on his 9th antibiotic since September. He didn't have a great time on our trip at all. He spent most of each night coughing and uncomfortable. We're hoping to have some answers very soon as to why he just can't seem to get well.

Happy Mother's Day

My Mom with all of her grandchildren.

Trips and Ears

Poor Buster is just not getting much better. After 10 days of more antibiotic his ears are still full of fluid and he is still running a fever. Not good news. Thankfully he had his ENT appointment today and we got the go ahead for ear tubes. Hopefully this will drain the fluid and he'll be feeling better very soon. He may have the surgery as soon as next week, we're just waiting on the call. In the meantime, we are headed out of town this weekend for my sisters wedding. It will be nice to get away. So much has been going on. I read a post on another blog today about seasons of life and I couldn't believe how much it rang true for me. I feel so overwhelmed at times. Much like a cat chasing its tail never really accomplishing anything. I know that's not true and it was refreshing to see that others experience the same thing!

Crazy Kids

Buster is growing so fast it's unbelievable. Poor guy has a consult for ear tubes on Thursday. We can't wait to get it over with already. It's been ridiculous going from one infection to another. It will be nice to see what it's like to sleep through the night again!

Midge was so proud of the flowers she is growing. She made the basket at our Easter party and has been diligently watering them and checking ever since. I hope they bloom.

Tea cracked me up tonight when I went to get her out of the bath. She is a character!

Ever since Tracy came to visit with her newborn son, Buster has reverted back to infancy. I've caught him in the swing several times. Too funny!

Happy May Day!

Ours was filled with freezing temperatures and snow, go figure. Oh well, we desperately need the moisture and it will be back up in the seventies by mid week. I am so excited to see May arrive. My sister is getting married this upcoming weekend, so we have a trip planned. We'll stay through the weekend and leave Mother's Day morning.

Tea's Kindergarten trip to the zoo and graduation are also this month. I can't wait for summer vacation to begin, but that's a whole 'nother post. As soon as we get back from GJ I am going to do my spring cleaning. I'm dreading the actual work, but super excited for the results. I love organization and have been living very out of my element lately. This causes me stress that isn't really necessary. Anyway...welcome May!
