Flu Shots

Today we had to do the dreaded flu shots. I've known about it and had our appointment forever, but didn't tell the kids until we were on our way. As always it had to be difficult. I picked the older girls up from school and was in a rush to get them to the car. They get out at 3 and our appt. was at 3:30 and I still had to go to the ATM. We got to the car and it wouldn't start. This shouldn't have come as a surprise, but apparently I'm a slow learner. The battery has died on me 4x in the last two days. I charged it all night last night and thought we were done with all that silliness. I know, get a new battery already. Long story short, my mom came to the rescue, the battery was resuscitated and we made in on time.

There's a happy ending though. No one cried. Not even the baby. There was no resisting, kicking, none of that. Just perfect compliance. Whew. I wonder what's on tap for tomorrow???

Yikes

Take a family of 7, throw in a major play production, a brand new Kindergartner, two pre-schoolers, a baby, and some temporary single parenthood, and you've got my life right now. Crazy. I know, yours probably is too. So much I want to say, some I can't, some I just don't have time right now. Soon, I hope!

Conquered

While we wait for the older girls to get out of school, Midge has been practicing on the monkey bars. Well, this week she finally got it. She was so proud of herself and kept going again and again. I can't believe she starts Kindergarten next year!

Go Broncos

Buster is stoked the Broncos won today!

Midge Moves On

For the past few weeks Midge has been telling anyone who will listen that she has a crush on the The King. I don't know why, but I get a huge kick out of this. Well today on the way home from church she informed us all that it's over. She's moved onward and upward. In her exact words "My crushed jumped off of you and onto Garrett." Socialization does wonders I suppose!

Maybe

Maybe we're on to something, just maybe. It's only 1:30, but today has been a good day. I got up early and helped Chiggie get ready for play rehearsal. She had to have all of her outfits, tights, and different shoes ready and turn them into the costume director. She was in a great mood, which was so nice to see, and headed off in great spirits.

I got the younger girls ready and we went to a special showing at our local theater of the movie "Despicable Me." It was $2 to get in and all proceeds will go to Orchard of Hope. It was a lot of fun. I thought the movie was hilarious and so did the girls.

The King and Mr. Buster D had a Daddy/Son day, which apparently involves pajamas, chips, and football. Well, Buster didn't have any chips. I hope the rest of the day continues to go this well, and regardless I'm glad we had such a good morning!

Dropping In

Since I know that someday I will read this blog and learn things that I had long forgotten, I'm trying to be better about recording the important stuff. So, I'm dropping in, right in the middle of this whirlwind we call life to get a few things down I will surely forget about later.

Yesterday Chiggie got her cast off. Her arm looked great. I was a little embarrassed because I had told her all of these horror stories based on what my arm looked like when I got my cast off at 9 (dirty, sweaty, skin peeling, etc.) Hers looked pretty much perfect. She's more obedient I suppose, I can't count how many times a foreign object found it's way to an itchy spot on my arm. The Doc said she looks great and should be 100% within the week. This is great news as the play opens 1 week from tomorrow.

I also have to say, I think this has been the strangest postpartum experience I've ever had. Buster is 6 months old and I look worse now than I did 6 months pregnant. Good grief, is it really all over but the crying? I know I need to lose weight and all that, but my energy levels are low if that. I keep telling myself, Boo was about this age when I dropped the weight so it can be done. I'm also extremely stubborn and refuse to buy myself new clothes in the size I'm in right now. With the seasons changing I need to be able to fit in some jeans I own very quickly. I can do it, I just need to get serious about it!

Happy 6 Months!

Bussy is now officially half a year old. He hasn't been his usual smiley self the last day or so due to the fact that he's trying to cup his top teeth. Not a happy boy! He sits very well unassisted, scoots around, and enjoys some fruits and veggies. Happy half b-day Buster!

Determined

I am absolutely determined to make this a better week. I have been down and out for way too long now. I know it's a combination of things, but I need to just try harder to have a positive attitude.

We found at last week that Chiggie will be Veruca on opening night right here in town and are so excited. Today we finally found/borrowed the dress she is going to wear for the factory tour. It was a major weight off of my shoulders. There has been a lot involved in this, it will be worth it, but oh my goodness this has been going on for 4 1/2 months! I'm reassured now that we're on the downhill side.

Tea is loving Kindergarten. On the first day of school she gave the teacher our phone number and told her to stay cool. Yeah, that's Tea for you. She doesn't seem too exhausted going all day at all. She sleeps good at night, but doesn't have any trouble staying awake in the evenings. She's very happy to be eating lunch at school and is eager to learn. We're proud and happy for her.

The little girls are having a blast at home. Midge has the computer pretty much to herself and they get to choose the morning cartoons. They love playing house and spending time outside. At lunch they get to sit at the bar, just the two of them and it makes them feel big I think. I can't believe Midge starts K next year and then Boo the very next. Crazy!

Shrieky

This little boy is a fire cracker. Literally. He constantly makes that loud, shrieking, bottle rocket fire cracker noise. My ears, I believe are permanently damaged. Then he gives me this look, and all is forgiven.

Fresh Start

We had a really nice weekend after a busy and very stressful week. We enjoyed the last official days of summer and went to the park with my brother and his family and had a great time at the State Fair.Chiggie reacts to a horse, ahem, doing its business.
Camie got up close and personal with this horse.
As usual Bussy, livin' the life!

Boo was so excited all week for the fair. She had a great time.

All of the girls really liked this little bunny farm.

The King had to have a funnel cake.

No better way to cool off than the splash pad.

Tea took it to the extreme.

I wrapped up Chiggie's arm so she wouldn't miss out. It stayed completely dry.

Midge enjoys a bubblegum shaved ice.

Wading in the river, the day before at the park.

He is soooo cute!

Kaia and Tea were soaked and filthy by the end of the day.

The water was actually freezing.

Pheobe gave Midge a hand.
We're on to a new week now. I can't say it has been much easier, but as long as we have weekends like this to look forward to, I think we can handle it.

Please....

Praying tomorrow is a better day. Today was very trying in many ways. I can't wait for a 3 day weekend!

Another Success

Tea's first day of school was fantastic. I didn't need to worry at all. She wasn't even tired or crabby this evening at all. She had plenty of fun stories to tell and can't wait to go all 4 days next week. Her favorite thing they did was P.E. class. She says she ate and enjoyed her lunch, and made several new friends. I'm so happy for her!

1st Day of Kindergarten

Today was Tea's first day of Kindergarten! She was nervous, but very excited. I hope she has a great day! She is my first to go all day and I'm a little nervous about that. Congratulations Tea, you finally made it!
