Much Better

Today was a much better day. A few days of medicine and a lot of rest seems to have done my little sickies some good. In other great news the healthy kids are staying that way. We plan to lay low for most of this week, with the exception of t-ball and play practice. Hopefully this blows over and we can move to the rest of summer!

Camp Como or Bust

Bust I suppose. I was really looking forward to going and enjoying some time with the older girls. Alas, it was not meant to be. We were barely there when Chiggie started complaining of a sore throat. I could tell right away by her demeanor that it wasn't just a sore throat. By morning it was clear she had strep. We would've had to leave anyway though, as Buster was awake all night crying and miserable. He spiked a fever of 103, about giving me a heart attack. We made the best of the time we had. Playing on the playground, making s'mores, and singing fun songs.

It's hard when things don't go the way I plan them. It seems so common lately too. Just a rough spell I'm sure, but still, come on already.

Sometimes.....

You just can't catch a break. Our air conditioner is shot. The lowest bid we have so far is $1500. Not gonna happen anytime soon. On top of that poor Boo has an eczema flare/staph infection and cannot go anywhere near a swimming pool. *sigh* What shall we do?? I leave for camp tomorrow with the older girls and Buster. At least the mountains are cool right?

Summer Days

I can't believe I haven't posted in almost a week. It's certainly not for a lack of things to say. We've been enjoying our lazy days of summer to the fullest. We're going on day 10 without air conditioning and temps in the high 90's. The pool is our friend.

Buster does so good, but is always tuckered out afterwards. Next year will be so much fun, when he's splashing along side the girls.

We're also finishing up t-ball and Chiggie was cast as "Veruca" in the musical "Willy Wonka." Most evenings she has practice until after 8. She is loving it though and it really keeps her from getting bored. The library is also a hit as always, and they have air conditioning. Double bonus. This weekend I am taking Chiggie and Tea to church camp. We're all looking forward to it. Buster is coming along so that should be interesting. July and August look even busier than June. I'm thinkin' this is going way too fast.....

Braving the Sun

Our sunburns have finally healed for the most part and yesterday, for the first time since Water World, we braved the sun. It was FABULOUS.

The weather was perfect and we had a really good time. It's amazing what a little vitamin D can do!

3 Months

Buster Dude, our house is a different place now. I can't believe how much one tiny person can change things. You complete this family. We're loving watching you grow. Your sisters are absolutely fascinated with you. I sing sweet songs to you and you smile. I love to see your smile. You are such a happy and content boy. You sure do love your paci. This is new for me, your sisters hated theirs.

I love to see you in ball caps and hats in general. You never try to take them off so I'm thinking you like them too. Just like Daddy. We're pretty sure you're going to have allergies. You've had a rough spring with them at least. I hate seeing you feeling crummy. I give you extra snuggles and that helps both of us I think.

Having you has healed a part of my soul I didn't even know needed healing. You are that last piece of the puzzle. I see the whole picture now and it's amazing. All the possibilities.

Here we are a quarter of the way through your first year. We love you Mr. Buster!

Swimming

The weather was crummy last night, so in an effort to burn off a little energy, the girls and I went to the indoor pool. The King graciously volunteered for baby duty and he and Buster stayed home for some peace and quiet.

It was a lot of fun and nice to not have to worry about burning again so soon. Tomorrow we're braving the sun and the outdoor pool. Fingers Crossed the new sunscreen works!

Poor Little Dude

I was putting away clothes in Buster's room today and the girls decided to doll him up a bit. Poor dude. This picture screams I have 4 sisters!

Ugh

Just for fun the little girls and I made a cake this afternoon. They so enjoyed licking the beaters afterwards. As soon as the cake was done I took it out of the oven and set in on top to cool. All would have been fine had I not turned on the wrong burner to boil the water for spaghetti noodles for dinner. We will refer to this as the great cake disaster of 2o10 from now on.

The clean up is going to take somewhere around forever. The King suggested we move. Just another day....

Follow-Up

Poor Buster hasn't felt very good at all this week. He's still battling the same upper respiratory issues he was battling last month and on top of that wound up with an ear infection. Thankfully we caught it early and he was only REALLY miserable for one night. I took him back in today for a follow-up and his ear was looking much better. Now we're just dealing with the 'I'm so stuffed up I can't eat' issues. He screams when he even sees the bulb syringe. It is not his friend. On a similar note he actually smiles when he sees his pacifier. He loves the thing. It's very weird for me because the girls were never interested, but it's been a lifesaver on so many occasions.

I'm excited for this weekend for no particular reason. There isn't really anything going on, just hanging out. I'm sure we'll find something to do.

Silly, Crazy, Boo

Boo was exhausted tonight, but for some reason just would not stay in her bed. I finally just let her sit with me for a minute while I folded a load of laundry. I asked her a question and she didn't answer. I turned around and saw she had fallen asleep on a stack of folded towels. I guess she was pretty tired.

Earlier today she asked me to take some silly pictures of her. This time she said she was pretending to cry.

I have no idea what this look was about. I also have no clue what Tea was doing in the background.

She was laughing about something here. She looks so much like my sister did when she was a baby here. Very cute!

Baby Bunny

When we were at WaterWorld this little, bitty, bunny hopped right over to my Mom. We were walking on the sidewalk, toward the next ride, and couldn't believe it. She scooped him right up. He was so sweet, at least I think he was a he. We turned him in to staff as the area where we found him was dangerous. He was right near a busy parking lot and of course lots of water. The girls wanted to keep him so much, but we did the right thing. Baby animals are sooo cute though....

Nine

Happy Birthday to the kid who started it all. We love you Chiggie! Can't wait to see what the next nine years brings us!

More T-ball

I could never, ever, ever, get tired of watching tiny kids play sports. Seriously, is there anything cuter? I'm definitely thinking no. I love Tea's uniform. It looks so "real." Who wouldn't be intimidated by that flaming ball on the front?

Unfortunately her poor little cheeks and shoulders match the shirt. Yes, we're still suffering!

Chiggie's Party

This year we did things for Chiggie's B-day party a little different. There was no gift she just really "had" to have and all she really wanted was to go to Water World. We'd never been before so I obliged her wish.It was so nice to have a nice shady area reserved. We ate lunch, cake, ice cream cones, and rested there throughout the day. This Speedway ride, was one of my absolute favorites. You rode on a mat on your belly and it was really fast.
The girls LOVED the wave pool. Here Marlee gave Chiggie a push into oncoming waves.

We took a break midday for some presents, lunch and cake. The cake was delicious!

Here I am riding one of the speed slides. I was soooo nervous to go down. I think I stood at the top for about 15 minutes before I finally just went. Once I had gone down I couldn't wait to go again.

Tea had a great time in the wave pool and playing at Wally World. She didn't really like the Dinosaurs on one of the family rides.Midge and Boo played a lot at Wally World. Here they are sliding down on one of the slides there.
Boo swinging in the water.

Midge posing with Wally.
Buster was such a trooper. He slept a lot and was perfectly content under the canopy of his stroller. This waterfall was a lot of fun. It was really hot so it was a nice place to cool off.Midge liked the water swings as well.

The three older girls posed for a quick shot before heading back out.

Overall we had a great day. The aftermath was rough though. Major sunburns. Even though we used sunscreen over and over the spf was just not high enough. We're still recovering. Midge, Boo, and Buster were spared entirely so that's good, but as for the rest of us, it wasn't/isn't pretty. I can say it was worth it though, a GREAT day!!
